Herdy and I spent a great week in Buenos Aires which coincided (deliberately), with Herdy´s birthday... We managed to track down a lovely room in a stunningly renovated colonial house right in the heart of San Telmo, the oldest suburb in town and one with loads of character and life to it.

So, despite my natural desire to dislike the place due to very childish football type rivalries, I really found myself really enjoying it ! The attached photos might be slightly dull, but hopefully help you see some of its different faces, or at least the few I managed to discover in such a short space of time.

There´s also a load of pictures from the various activities for Herdy´s birthday... Which generally involved eating and drinking, although we also went to see Argentina vs Puma´s rugby international on Saturday. The day before his birthday we were a bit over excited when we saw U2 posters up advertising a gig the following evening ... Although I had visions of us getting to see the boys as a great birthday bonus for Herdy, sadly it turned out to be a tribute band. We went and got tickets for it anyway, as it was in a decent sized venue and sounded like it would be an entertaining evening - which it was. An interesting observation is that the IT age has clearly hit home, because instead of waving their cigarette lighters when a slow tune was being played, everyone was waving their mobile phones in the air instead ... !?!
