Our wild South African adventures are coming to an end. Only two more days left to go. The storm we faced all day yesterday hovered around all day today bringing with it plenty of rain. Due to the weather, we decided to postpone our segway tour and dedicate today as a wine and spa day.
After enjoying another large spread at breakfast, we were transported via golf cart to the wine tasting. We tasted all of Spier's award winning wines which are mostly blends and a Pinotage. I don’t believe blends are very popular in the States and we’ve never heard of a Pinotage before, but they each tasted quite nicely. We learned Spier sells their wine at Total Wine and Spec’s in the U.S. I enjoy almost any kind of thick red and I would recommend their Creative Block 3, Creative Block 5 (surprisingly light but tasty), 21 Gables Pinotage, and Signature Shiraz. If I only had to choose one, I would prefer the Creative Block 5. We enjoyed a bottle of wine after the tasting and were soon on our way to be pampered.
We enjoyed massages and additional relaxing spa treatments we found on the menu. South African prices are much more reasonable then that of Washington D.C. so we felt the need to take advantage and splurge quite a bit throughout our trip. Our services were top notch and we even booked more pampering for tomorrow. "Why not", right?
Tomorrow is another day filled with South African wine, segway tours, tastings, and pampering. We’re really just relaxing at a South African vineyard until we depart for London in two days. I understand that these posts may not be as exciting to read as our travels in Cape Town, shark cage diving, and safaris, but we still want to keep our families and friends posted on our travels on the other side of the world.
