Where I stayed
Our South African Adventure According to Me, Day 8
by Brian Mullen
Our good friend Hyme picked us up from Aquila shortly after breakfast and drove us across and down the mountains to Spier vineyards which is about 30 minutes outside of Cape Town. We're staying at Spier for the final three nights of our South African adventure.
We didn't have much planned today except to arrive at Spier safely because a major storm moved in last night and brought about some dangerous driving conditions through the mountains. Upon arrival, we were driven by car to our cozy little cottage where we found flower petals draped on the bed with a bottle of merlot, a box of chocolates, and a lovely congratulatory note. The staff seems to be under the impression that we are on our honeymoon.
We simply enjoyed a late lunch, drank a few glasses of wine and ran into a couple that seemed to be following us around ever since London. Will and Linda introduced themselves to us at the vineyard today and we carried on a long conversation. They are both physicians in California and have kids slightly younger than us. After about an hour, Linda and I learned we both graduated from Barry University! What are the odds, seriously?
We are finishing the day by relaxing in our room with room service and wine. Tomorrow we have wine tastings and a segway tour of the property. Not sure which comes first, but either way should provide another great adventure. Until tomorrow... good night all.

I am greatly enjoying your blog and went through withdrawal when you weren't able to post. But really, you can't tease us with words about the safari hat and then not show us a photo!
