After the lavish meal at LQF, you'd have thought we'd have had enough food but oh no, we had a lie in and then breakfast. Steve made sure he had one of those tasty yoghurt and granola things just to keep the hunger at bay!

We decided to take the route to Swellendam via Franschhoek having not had the chance to stop off there prior. We looked into a few shops but Steve stopped me from bringing a wooden elephant back.

Drove over the picturesque Franschhoek Pass where we narrowly missed a baboon crossing the road! Followed the N2 through to Swellendam. Planned on checking in and then heading into the town of Swellendam but the hotel exceeded our expectations and the lure of lazing round the pool at the lovely Rothman Manor was too strong to overcome! So we spent the rest of the afternoon lazing by the pool writing postcards and jacuzzi, watching the two zebra and Steve came across the smallest frogs in the world. We thought they were insects but proved not to be and they were all over the grass. When the temperature dropped we headed over to the jacuzzi and opened a bottle of bubbly from the mini bar and had that whilst enjoying the other bubbles!

The hotel recommended a few restaurants and we opted for the closest one which was conveniently across the road! It was like a country kitchen type serving rustic and wholesome food. Steve had springbok carpaccio and I couldn't resist the sushi plate. The carpaccio was lovely and lots of it and the sushi was just ok but I should have expected that given we weren't near the coast but I just wanted sushi! Main courses were very good. I had a steak that was huge and cooked to perfection and Steve had kudu, sprinbok and ostrich also cooked to perfection.
