Sleeper train

Our train ticket was 1st class this time... Dave took me for a walk along the whole length of the train so I get a feeling of the lower class cabins. They ranged from our first class beds (4 bunker beds in a cabin) to 6 beds in a cabin, reclining seats and then wooden benches. There was a strange stench as I walked further in.....Dave said this was from a fruit called durian. It smelt vile :( Everyone in the lower cabins was really friendly and playing cards and generally there was an upbeat feel about it. It took me back to scene of titanic where the rich sat in the posh rooms smoking pipes while a huge party raged in the lower stages of the ship. I came back to the first class cabin and no longer complained about the odd cockroach on the windowsill. Part of me felt like going back and chilling with the wooden bench lot though...they just seemed so happy!

Hanoi and Halong bay

Our 13 hour train journey got us to Hanoi at 4:30am where we boarded a bus for 3 hr drive to Halong Bay. We got to our hotel and had breakfast. The Hotel was lovely and we had a really nice spacious room with ocean views!! The weather was fantastic too :)

We headed to a private yacht and I instantly felt like a celebrity! It was fab!! Later they served us a feast for lunch and we enjoyed the spectacular views of Halong bay. Our next adventure involved kayaking where again I asked the tour guide (Took) to come with me...it was amazing! Meera and Reanna went together and after getting the hang of it they loved it too! We then visited the caves of stalactites which Halong bay is famous for. The caves were pretty awesome but I think they had been artificially messed with too much....lots of fake lighting of different colours in an attempt to attract tourists. I enjoyed going there anyway :)

When we got back to the harbour we headed to the beach and sat talking until it was dark. The beach at night has a wonderful magical feel....loved it!

Tomorrow were heading back to Hanoi on the bus at 8am x
