Naxos, the biggest and largest island of the Cyclades contains more than 98kms of fine golden sandy beaches!

Still recovering from the night before, l slept in and met Sarah on the deck and ate breakfast and a frappe overlooking the Naxos port. Sarz and l then took a brief walk along the port shops lined with octopus and squids drying in the hot morning sun. We then caught a bus to Plaka beach- which is one of the most famous beaches on the islands and is five kms of undeveloped natural beauty! Little did me and Sarah realize but alot of other 'nature' was surrounding our sun baking sport on the beautiful sandy beach. I decided to venture up the beach on a walk in the water only to come across a whole lot of nudist's sun baking and playing bat tennis in the water! I quickly turned around- the sight of two old ladies playing pat tennis naked almost brought up my breakfast! Sarz had gone on a walk but the opposite direction and had a similar experience! We soon realized that Plaka beaches 'natural beauty' went way beyond sand and waves! We decided to stick in a our safe neutral territory between the two nudists coves and enjoyed swimming in the crystal clear turquoise waters glimmering under the bright Aegean sun!

We ventured back on the bus, got washed up and went out for dinner for a fabulous vegetarian meal for 5 Euro on the port front- huge stuffed tomatoes and capsicums, big white beans, potato and other goodies!! We stuffed ourselves as the sun set on yet another simple but wonderful day! That evening l simply sat on deck and chatted away the night with my fellow cruisers, met so many interesting people and had a blast with Onya and Gronya and a American actor couple who stole my heart and started getting me thinking alot about life and my own philosophy!
