Arriving from Luzern l spent the evening at the YHA on the outskirts of Zurich. I awoke early and toured Zurich on the Sunday. During a Sunday this famous Swiss city is a relatively sedate place, where l spent hours easily wandering around the graceful old town in the morning, taking in the city views from Polyterrasse where l could view the Fraumünster, dual towered Grossmünster and the 13th century tower of St Peterskirche which has Europe's largest clock face (8.7m in diameter). I then strolled down the elegant Bahnhofstrasse the city's infamous shopping street....of course window shopping the whole way...l love window shopping on Sundays when nobody is around! And l spent the afternoon cruising around Lake Zurich on the ferry past the famous Lindt Chocolate factory and then got off and along with what seemed like all of Zurich strolled around Lake Zurich in the afternoon through the Züurichhorn Park which had numerous sculptures and a Chinese Garden. I spent the remainder of my afternoon in Zurich sitting up on the Lindenhop hill terrace watching old men play chess and overlooking the river to the Old Town....l feel in love with this little terrace. I then finished off by walking around Schipfe one of the oldest quarters of the city by the river Limmat which was very picturesque and you can see that traditional crafts are still very much a part of life in this area.

All in all l enjoyed Zurich- l have to admit l liked strolling around it on a Sunday as l felt l had more of the place to myself but l can only imagine how busy and crowded this famous city would get on a Saturday and during the week.
