Chiang Mai, revisited

So I flew back to Chiang Mai from Myanmar, reeling a bit from the big month before and harbouring the remnants of a nasty cough the appeared in the middle of the ferry adventure a few days before. I'll never scoff again at another person who says being cold+wet will make you sick...

After having 'roughed' it (!) for the previous 4 weeks, I didn't waste a minute in deciding to pamper myself a bit and mere minutes after collecting my big pack I made a beeline for...yes, I'll admit it, I went to Dairy Queen (no lie, there's one in Chiang Mai airport!) and had a delicious oreo blizzard, yyyuuuuummmmmmm. And I continued the theme that nite with a pizza and a new film in a huge, modern, air-con cinema, ahhhhhhhhhhhh, I am so spoiled!!

Since then, I've been a bit more productive in this city than I was last time when I somehow managed to spend a month here without doing much besides hanging out. I've been to the dentist (we'll see if Thai fillings last longer than Bulgarian or Hungarian ones...), had both cameras fixed, learned some yoga, read loads of books, got tested to be sure I didn't get malaria in Myanmar (and so I can stop my anti-malaria medicine now, whew, what a pain in the arse), have been going to the gym, did a foot reflexology course and am inspired enough to come back at some point to do a full massage course, possibly including a certified training course to be a massage trainer myself. So, practice victims--ummmm, I mean volunteers-sign up soon!

Other than that, I've been meeting more interesting and groovy people, and doing a lot with my pictures and finally getting this site ready to unleash on the public, after promising soooo long to try and get organized. I'm trying, honest! :) Let me know what you think and please let me know if you have any suggestions to make it better. If I'm not emailing regularly, at least you can see a bit of where I am/have been and what I've been up to --well, the publishable stuff, anyway! :))

And I'm also now finally having some Thai lessons, which may come in handy not only if/when I come back here, but hopefully also in my next destination, Lao, as the languages are related. So after a few weeks having whizzed by again in this time-warp city, we'll see when I head there in the coming days...

Next stops: Lao and Cambodia...
