This was my first city outside of the US and let me say, it was a bit of an eye opener. The airport was not like typical US airports with friendly attendants. There were guards checking all of our bags and others standing around with guns. As soon as we stepped out of the airport, there were homeless people asking for money food. Then we took the jumper plane to the other side of the island (we actually stayed in Les Cayes). That is when I saw what the city of Port-au-Prince really looks like. It seemed to be an endless slum with a few larger houses up on the side of the mountain. I had never seen anything like it.
