Started the day off with some trepadation after the first day tour to Kwai....but this proved to be completely wrong as this trip was great.
This time we went on a larger coach felt a lot safer & comfortable for the long ride. The guide knew what he was talking about & gave loads of info.
We spent the morning visiting the ancient capital of Ayutthaya which was really worth the visit....a lot of tourists, but it is that time of year. This used to be the capital but the Burmese were always invading, raping & pilaging so a lot of the gold has gone...sounded a bit like England & France !!
After another couple of stops at temples & finally the palace where the King resides (none of which we can remember the names) we got around the palace by golf buggy which of course was extra....but Colin enjoyed it....just missing the golf clubs !!
We finished with a afternoon cruise back along the river to Bangkok for a few hours, which included lunch, the river bank is really interesting with amazing temples, shacks & markets.....as well as luxuy modern hotels & expensive apartments...loads to see.
The good news was that we ended the day more optimistic about the coming weeks than we started....time will tell !!
