Still recovering from our close bear encounter we arrived in Tofino at the cadillac of hostels (and so is the price)....great views of the sea....but parking was a nightmare....cars 5 deep and all keys at the desk, to be given a multitude of rules.....basically this left breathing and sleeping as acceptible and we were repremanded for taking our own pillows in. I was truely amazed when raucious games ceased at 11.00....rule 92 quiet time 11.00pm - 7.00am.

Tofino is a throwback to the 60's, full of hippie shops and a surfers paradise.....we had one full day and all we got was rain, rain and more rain, so we got wet and resigned to reading, laundry and playing games....wash out.
Made up for it the next day visiting Pacific Rim NP as we moved on. Great beaches but another 400 km drive.

Walked through Cathederal Forest of giant trees.....100's of years old.

Decided to go the back way to Sooke on single lane dirt roads but one area was closed (loggers strike) and the other had bridge closures for most of the day so timing was everything. Took hours but fun as we rollercoasted through mountains, forest and coast.

Farm Stay here was fantastic....luxury for us.....met loads of great people (including a vet and a phyisicists....can you believe Colin told them he was a brain surgeon!! he thought they were all making it up as well...) and Norm, our host, was a mine of info.....but we fell in love with Jojo the spaniel cross who loved to lay on our feet.

Next day visited Victoria, the capital of BC, really enjoyed  undersea gardens with a diver and huge octopus, then got withdrawal symptons and drove back to the countryside. Chilled on the beach and hot tub at sunset.

Well thats the end of Canada.....a magnificent country......but we are looking forward to warmer climes.........

Hi from Bedford!
Kim and ColinI'm really enjoying the photographs and comments. I feel more in touch with you now than I have done in the last ten years!!!!

Everyone will be wanting you to come to dinner on your return so don't forget to add us to the list. I want to know all about the logistics of your trip.

Dave reckons you need to do a talk and slide show at a hall and invite a 'select' audience!!!

Keep posting the pictures and diaries.

Love from Karen
