So we waved a heart felt goodbye to Pearlie and Meg at the airport but it beat all the previous goodbye's where we knew we wouldn't see each other for years. So quick goodbye outside the front of the airport and again armed with backpacks and guide books it felt like travelling again. Flight over was fun as it always is when you sit for hours while people bring you random food on trays. We are so spoilt though we almost felt hard done by as there was only one screen - no individual films. Still we survived.
Landed in Auckland to freezing cold night time but thankfully we left our big bags at the airport and went to investigate New Zealand for 24 hours (no money to spend longer but promises to go back). Found a place to stay (Fat Camel for anyone who has been there) and sat down to our free dinner, 6 chips (pronounced Chups) for me and 6 chips and 2 fish for Danny. That night we ended up not using our dorm beds (waste of 40 dollars) as we met a Paul weller look alike and crazy blond guy and spent the night/day with them. Was a great night and we ended up meeting a lot of random people, including 2 huge Maui demon tattooed bouncers and a lovely long haired aging hippy who didn't make any sense! Was loads of fun until we had to get on the plane feeling very sorry for ourselves and talk to scary customs men with guns - still was not so bad curling up with pillows and blankets while people brought us more food on trays!
So goodbye to New Zealand and hello Fiji for 4 days of (hopeful) sun so we don't look pasty white compared to you lot!
See you soon, Kate and Danny :)
