I thought it was meant to be hot down here.

Hello All, hope your all happy and enjoying warmer weather than us!

So arrived in Australia to wind and storms and thankfully they let Danny through customs (just). Picked up from the airport to hugs and tears (me mostly). I much prefer the meeting part of airports to the leaving! Drive to Wollongong along the coast road and through the national park was beautiful even through drowsy no sleep eyes. Danny and I are staying in a caravan in the garden which is really cozy (especially with heater and music playing) but still adjusting to the cold weather!

Since arriving we have been for a few windy walks along the beach but undone all the good work by having fat breakies (one of the best bits about Oz) and coffees with ice cream (oh life is hard!). Discovered the night life of Wollongong too, went out for a drink in Bulli (pronounced Bull-eye which Danny still cant get right) and met a lot of very drunk people. With the surfer blond hair people think Danny is an Aussie until he speaks, so by the tenth time he gets 'oh are you a pomme?!' we are all friends! Ended up at a 'club' bouncing to cheesy music but hey its been a long time!

Went to an Aboriginal treaty talk and workshop event in Wollongong which was interesting and gave us both more information on issues surrounding indigenous people and land but is quite complicated so still a lot to learn I think.

While at the Wildlife Park managed to get a bite or sting from something and it got infected, it got worse and worse (see pics) and definitely didnt like flying. Finally had to go to the doctor but did manage to hold out until Oz so it would cost less, money before health! Doctor um'd and ah'd a bit before giving me antibiotic this and cream that and told me to come back. It got bigger and bigger and turned all sorts of great colours so when I went back he told me he needed to lance it. Even with two lots of local anesthetic (injected right into it, owch) it was bloody painful! Check out the gross pic taken after he attacked it with a scalpel! Lesson there is never scratch your insect bites!

We have been to see a few films (recommend Candy if you get a chance to watch an Aussie film) met up with old friends and wandered around Sydney a few times. Spent Wednesday feeling old and adjusting to being 25 but pancakes for breakfast softened the blow! Took a very geeky picture outside the house I was born in much to Danny's embarrassment and went for a Thai meal (cos havent had that for a while!) with family including my dad that night, good fun and any excuse for sparkly!

So spent a lot of time with my family Pearlie and Meg which has been really great and done the odd bit of work and a few nice meals while desperatly trying to keep warm and watching with tears in our eyes as our tans fade away!

The world cup is here and Oz is going 'Soccer mad!' Danny is already wearing his England top and plans to wear it everyday. I have my Aussie shirt ready to wear on Monday but will be cheering England at 11pm our time tonight and the two crates of beers we bought are chilling in the fridge! Take care everyone xx
