Time on Koh Lanta was coming to an end, but to be honest the thought of the long journeys ahead, when your sat on a beach, can make it really hard to leave. on our 32nd from last day we did a four island trip for snorkeling. the transport was a little poor (it broke down a mile of the coast), and information from our guides (not sure if thats the correct term), was minimal to say the least. the snorkeling was ok, but a little weak after diving. the highlights:- fish that liked to bite you on the back, and a cave oasis. you get off the boat and swim allegedly following a guide into a cave, not long before its pitch black and your just trying to follow the geezer in front of you, i'm sure more health and safety infringements. just when the panic starts to set in, you see the light and arrive in the emerald caves, a small oasis (damm no camera), sheer cliffs on all sides, and a tiny little beach. a small paradise, with loads of tourists, you can't have it all though.

after a little more sun, sand, snorkeling milkshakes and frisby, we had one final hurrah with the crew from deep forest. we were touched that every member of staff had the kindness to get us each a little present each, and it was a great night, barring one french idiot, but my counselor says i have to let it go. soooooooooooooooooo.

laundry in thailand, much like india is a real lottery, maybe there's a 1 in 14 million chance of you getting the clothes back the way you gave to them. firstly there are just the things that go missing, and then theres the random colour stains, loss of all the orginal colour, or if your unlucky a little bit of ripping. but its still a hell of alot better than washing it yourself, so put your head down, and stroll on

on the move again, on the road, hitting the highway, out of a backpack, and all that business. i think that the beach was fun, but we both secretly thought that we wern't really ''getting involved'', and looking forward to the adventure. thailand travel, generally you feel like your being herded, marked with stickers, and chucked with the rest of the scummie travellers. compared to indian travel, hassle, and cons, it is generally not too bad, but since that first luxury bus out of bangkok, there has been a real plummet in quality. hey ho. no details, 16 hours later we're in bangkok on the khao San road, and whilst watching the drunken craziness of it all, remembering why we stayed on the beach so long, it was 6 am for Christ sakes. koh san road, is even busier than before with travellers, and is heaving at night, with drunks, sellers, tuk tuks, and the odd crazy. theres always someone coming or going with backpacks, and after a while you just can't wait to gettttttttt ouuuuuuuut! we spent two days in bangkok, sorting visas, and meeting up with the lovely brett and amelia from australia, who we met on our tour in china. then it was time to hit the road again.

last and not least, miss hearing from people so much, did you have a good new year, any dodgy christmas party stories, riduclous scandals in the press, and are you all okay, smiling, and working hard! let us know, or least leave nasty comments on the travelpod, so that i can send nasty retorts back.

peace!

Happy New Year!!
Hey guys!

I love reading your travelling annecdotes, it keeps me amused at work! Well Joao and I had a fairly quiet new year but we went to Brighton last weekend to visit Colin & Julie to make up for it. Got very drunk on Friday and we were dancing in their little flat with Colins speedos on our heads... till 5am!! Consumed too much wine me thinks!
We are moving to the Isle of Man on the 2nd of Feb and I have been offered a job with the largest recruitment company there and I start straigh away, yey me!
Joao is still looking for something, I sent his Cv to all the radio stations and film productions companies etc, but no luck as yet...
You must come and visit us when you come back if you can afford it.
Love Danny's flip flop story, made me giggle lots!!
Keep having fun and look after each other.
Danny if you ever hurt her...... (he he)
