This morning we woke up and got out of the campground fairly early. From there we drove to Scotty's Castle, which is a castle built in the Dessert by a spring. It was built by Albert Johnson, and a man named Scotty who was Johnson’s friend lived there for a while. Johnson was the president of a health insurance company which made him a very wealthy man. While Scotty lived out in Death Valley and lied to people telling them he had a gold mine. He even got a few people to invest in this gold mine, one of whom was Johnson. But when Johnson didn’t see any profit he asked Scotty to take him to the gold mine. Of course all that he ended up doing was riding around Death Valley on mules without even a glimpse of a mine. Even though he found out there was no gold mine, he fell in love with Death Valley. He also formed a friendship with Scotty and loved the stories he told. When he built the castle for a vacation get away, he let Scotty live in it. And Scotty being a tall tail teller went around telling everybody that Johnson had built him the castle because he had saved his life. Scotty never saved Johnson’s life, but that is how the castle became known as Scotties Castle.  After our tour of Scotty’s castle we drove out of Death Valley. We ate dinner at a Mobil station that had been turned into a restaurant. Unfortunately it was free national park day and all the campgrounds around Yosemite were full. So we ended up having to camp on an old dirt driveway that was public land.
