I missed the last bus out of Tileran to Monte Verde, so I got on the bus about to leave for Volcan Arenal. It is easy to change plans when you make them up as you go along.
Yesterday, after arriving in La Fortuna near the Volcano Arenal, I went on a tour recommended at the hostel to the hot springs and to see the red lava flowing down the side of the mountain. Our group of seven people first went at 5:30 to a pool in the river that flows from the volcano making it hot tub-hot. Next we were led up the mountain by the guide to the lava field of the 1992 eruption to see the current stream of red hot rocks roll down the side of the mountain 1 km away.
This morning I went to the La Fortuna waterfall near town. It is much more impressive than the Montezuma waterfall was.
