Where I stayed
La Botella de Leche
The river that separates Tamarindo's beaches and the peninsula to the north that includes the serene Playa Grande national nature reserve where turtles nest is visible narrow but deep and with a swift current out to sea, enabling entrepreneurial boat owners to provide taxi service across and back.
In addition to being a beautiful beach, Playa Grande is empty to a point of the antithesis of Tamarindo's crowds. From the beach across the river five crane booms were visible in the town, all belonging to large construction projects of retail malls or condos, in the continuing progression that has forever changed this previously small fishing village into a resort town.
