The bus back to Santa Teresa left Cobano at midnight and stopped in front of a road sized slip n' slide full of mud around 12:30.
The rodeo in Cobano, nearby Santa Teresa, had ended and the carnival-like festivities drew into the night. During the events there were a few minutes of rain. This apparently turned the road into an impassable mess of mud. Once the bus stopped we were told that they would probably sit there until morning and walking the rest of the way might be a good idea.
Troy, the coyboy-hatted Canadian wearing his recently purchased enormous Costa Rica flag belt buckle, provided inspirational quotes to the group of recently debussed people walking through the mud such as:
"This is a journey of the human spirit to overcome the obstacles that we have been given." and
"Esta Bien!"
After a few hours of walking through mud, alternating in flip flops and bare feet, our feet looked like we had just returned from a fruity spa, but none of us were fooled by our feet.
