Well, after travelling 300 km in 6 hrs I made it to El Tujin Ruinas. Amazing in size covers about 10 sq km and they still havenīt finished. I drove down the rough highways and 40 km roads to Papantla a nice small village where I drank a cervasa with a guy cooking cows feet in a open flame cauldron on the roadside and then headed to the Gulf of Mexico before night. I made it to a small beach town called Tauninil? well ok beaches and $10 hotels. I went to the restaurant Mangar, had a Canadian flag outside and looked very welcoming. Well David now lives with Mylia, Mexican Senora and her son David. He is from Toronto and has followed love to relocate and help operate the restaurant. Great cook. Heuvos Rancheros similar but very different than Captain Wardens. He closed up and we drank a few beers and he related some Mexican secrets. They only make 50 pesos for a 10 hr day ($6.oo Canadian), corruption is high. Had a great night and wandered back to the hotel. The next day I went for a visit to the Turtle sancturary where they protect and release around 2000 baby turtles, 2 meter crocodile, and left a couple of soccer balls with Lil-David to take to school. This is the first donation of the St Albert Fire Fighters Athletic Association Soccer collection. See the website for updates. www.stalbertfirefighters.com
I drove to the City of Xalapa (halapa) Uhhh city driving again. And there is no real street direction. I made it Nabia Hostal. I have a room to myself for $11/night. Met up with an American and an England teacher both on summer break and we went to find big cheap beers. Couple bars later we had seen ALOT of Xalapa for under $20 CDN. Xalapa is a great city to visit, it is the Capitol of Varacruz state and has alot of University students. Cleaner and safest yet. Built along a hillside surrounded by green mountainous hills and keeps a temp. of about 20 C (at night too). We went to the Museo de Archelogio and viewed a terrific display of Toltec Ruins and scultpures. Spent $10 for 3 of us to each 20 tortilla stuffed with pollo (chicken) and beers. As you can tell it is very cost effective to travel Mexico.
I am staying one more night (sat) and going out with people from the hostel and then driving to Varacruz city tomorrow AM. I think I will take the one few interstate highways towards the Mayan Riviera after that. It will depend on how far I can get before night and I am looking for somewhere to stop and learn Spanish for a couple days. It is getting better perro no rapido! Sorry no photos downloaded yet.

minor corrections and well wishes
i am the david that jason speaks of.it was great to meet jason and introduce him to some fine mexician cuisine and, equally as important, different mexican beers.
just a few corrections: my beautiful little beachside town is Tecolutla, my beautiful wife is Myriam, and its the waiter that only makes $6 a day, we do a little better:)
in addition to his generous gifts he made quite an impression; the girls are still asking me if he is coming back?
we all wish him a safe and stimulating trip.
BIEN VIAJE!!!!!!
P.S. come and visit, all are welcome.
