Buenos Noches. Well the 2nd day was an adventure. I ended up in the town of Gorro Rosso? well I met up with an english speaking, pot bellied, 56 y/o driving and old ford that took me on a tour. Reluctantly I paid the price. 4X4 holy - straight up 4ooo ft into a small mountain village. Not much to do there but scenic. I helped him build a toilet with a couple nails and a tarp and rotton wood...oh well every king needs a throne.
They have nothing..family sleeps on the floor and his wife cooks on a clay hearth in a wood and clay home with a tin roof. By minimal light because there is no electricity or phones or running water. Of course it is surrounded by Mexico´s cleanest water falls and creeks. That reminds me - it poured- HARD. Woke me up. My crappy tent nearly collapsed and so I ran for cover into the old truck by the light of the lightning. What a night.
Well it was a 3 hr return down the rocky boulders called a road and I drove to Ciudad Mante. Clean City with volunteer fire brigade. I am barely getting by with my brutal spanish. Not recommended travel on your own, especially when youdon´t speak the language.
My travel plans for tomorrow. Visit the City of Tampico during daylight. I only stayed out until the stores closed. Two beautiful plazas and ice ream and shoe stores on every block? Really active , lively community. Cheap too!
After my City touring I am driving South to Papantla, major ruins there and then down the coast to Xalapa where there is a HI Hostel. Yay I will probably spend two days there.
Coolest thing today....a 3 foot snake road kill! and the world largest donkey .....
