If you are travelling to NY in the summer beware - +90 F already with 90 % humidity. All tours need to booked in advance and there is line-ups in the afternoon. There are harbor boat tours, gargoyle walking tours, park bike tours, double decker hop on hop off rides, helicopter rides for $100 US 10 min. Or just as enjoyable rollerblade the harbour and central park, great trails. Walking has been my interest, every street is completely different Stopped by the World Financial Center that has the best 2nd floor view and info center inside ,overlooking the World Trade Center site. Mass of consrtuction and rebuilding and tearing down of the old. I was more upset with the news of losing the Perogy House to a ravenging fire back home until...I started to listen to the stories of everyday business people and security guards that were there that day.(sept 11, 01)
It is hard to understand the emotionoal damage done when there was bodies scattered everywhere and their descriptions of largest stones only the size of about 6 inch sq ( demostrated with their hands)and the steel beams everywhere. That was all that was left from a 103 floor building that was NY's famous skyline at one time. Smells, burns, personal injuries.....pretty crazy.
The ferry to Statue of Liberty was very cool, just a close up view. 1937 French donated it to US symbolizing: Broken Shakles at her feet - escape from Trinity, Tablet (left Arm) declaration of Independance signed July 4, 1776, Crown of Seven Rays - Seven seas and seven continents, 12 million people came to USA in 1892 to the island (Ellis Island)and the statue with her tourch beconing the American Dream (Same as Scarface)
Went out for supper and drinks with Alberta group. Pizza is popular (thin crust).
Tell steve! All night long over the air conditioner, sirens, honking, garbage trucks.
Still something very attractive about NY that claims people's allegance right away.
