We again had a slow start to the day, was a chilly night. Had some brekky and then set off to have a look around Wanaka. Pretty little place, lovely scenery as usual.

Decided to checkout the famous puzzle world. Boys and I went inside and did the maze for a while, got thoroughly lost but eventually found all the points. Then went inside and checked out all the illusions, puzzles, etc which were pretty cool. Plays with your senses a bit.

Then the next thing we did was awesome. We went to a shooting range where my two kids suddenly got older. Patrick became 17yo to be able to shoot a shotgun at clay targets, and Mitchell became 12yo so he could go on the rifle range.

Patrick and I did the shotguns and clay targets, and this was lots of fun. Got my bum kicked though. We had twenty shells each, and to his credit he hit 7 clay targets out of 20 which is quite good for a first timer. I only hit 4 targets. Unfortunately Mitchell was too young to do it so had to watch from the sidelines.

After this we then had a go on the rifle range, where we could all have a go. The guy running the show demonstrated how to do it with Mitchell, and Patrick and I watched on. Mitchell's first shot was right in the middle of the bulls eye, so excellent first shot. Overall we did really well. Patrick in particular was very accurate with most of his shots in the middle circle. Mitchell also did really well, and I think I came third. Had quite a few in the centre and never missed any, but I think their young eyes showed. Was a lot of fun.

We finished up with a bucket of balls on the shooting range, which was also fun. I think I won this section!

After this we left Wanaka and headed to the glaciers. Did not expect to drive all the way as it was reasonably late in the day by the time we left, and didn't really want to drive through the mountains at night as I was told they can be a bit treacherous. But ended up driving right thru to Fox Glacier where we spent the night.

We got in about 8pm and decided to go to the pub a the end of the street for dinner and a well earned beer. We all ordered a feed and a round of drinks, and not too long after got talking to another family who were from the Gold Coast also staying in the same caomp. They had a couple of boys Mitchell's age so they hit it off around the pool table, and we kicked back with a couple more rounds of drinks. Finished up there about 9.30 and followed them back to camp, where we played cards for a couple of hours.
