Woke up in the holiday park to the owner knocking on the door. Was about to get stroppy with her waking us up so early, but then realised it was 8.45am so was happy to be woken up. The late appearance of the sun really makes a difference to sleeping patterns. I think the extra eggshell foam mattress we bought for our bed also made a difference (my poor old back could not handle simple the basic cushions).

Had brekky and took off from the holiday park (which only cost us $5 total given there was no toilets, water, or an other facilities - bargain). and headed to the boulders. It was high tide so only a few of the boulders were visible, but still quite amazing to see. If you are wondering what the hell I am talking about, checkout http://www.moerakiboulders.co.nz/.

From there we decided to checkout the Moeraki township but found the road had slipped a little and no way I could get our motor home across the remaining road. Had to do a 25 point turn (or seemed like it) in someones yard (sorry about those large wheel ruts in the grass), to turn around and go back.

Checked out the lighthouse at Moeraki also, and got fairly close and personal with a bunch of seals. Tried to spy some penguins from the lookout, but there were none to be found.

From there headed back to the highway and to Dunedin. This took a couple of hours, and we drove thru some spectacular country side and then thru Dunedin. Bumbled our way thru the city, and made our way to Lanarch castle, NZ's only operating castle (http://www.larnachcastle.co.nz/). This has been impressively restored and is quite something. The gardens are also amazing. Didn't find any secret passages though, much to the kids disappointment.

It was getting dark so found ourselves a holiday park to setup camp in, and just as well. It is now pouring with rain, and the wind has picked up to the point that the van is now shaking from the wind gusts. And tomorrow I think the snowstorms will start and are supposed to be the worst in 20 years. So not sure if we will get out of here tomorrow.
