In Budapest we hooked up with Miss Deysi (Maya's sister, who seems to be stalking us all over the world!). Our first night we felt flush with cash, as the exchange rate was very favorable (yes, the greenback still has SOME legs). So we treated ourselves to an incredible dinner (complete with these huge stuffed hot peppers) and Goulash soup, etc. We ate cheaply and were excited about all of the cheap dining experiences that lay ahead (with one way flow of cash in the account you become mighty miserly). The following day, however, we realized we were off by 50% on the exchange rate so had to dial down our luxurious lifestyle.

With our new, lighter wallets, we hit the city. Right next to our hotel was the "Terror Museum" that was a museum on the site that was a Gestapo headquarters in WWII, then the location for the Russian Secret police. A haunting exhibit (I assume, since it was closed when we finally resolved to go). In front, however, was an Iron Curtain of chains, which was pretty impressive (you need to see the pics).

Our final night we walked the city as it rained and enjoyed the impressive fortress on the hill and looked down on the city. Gorgeous.
