Hmm to escape the city and head for the real Italy.

After seeing everything we wanted to see of Florence in a day we headed off to the Tuscan Country Side to Greve.

We got up early, checked our luggage at the Florence Train Station and got a bus which took about 1 hour and only cost €2.20 pp each way. Unfortunately the signs can be confusing when in another language and Mikelis was sure he saw one which said Greve in Chianti, so we hopped off...unfortunately 9km's early!!! The next bus ran in an hour so a few choice words and a cappucino later we were on our way again to Greve.

We were a bit hessistant about doing this on our own but it wound up easy, the bus stop is right next to a tourist information centre who told us where to go for some wine tasting and then some restaurant recommendations.

The wine tasting (La Cantina) was fun, they had machines where you could self serve and pay per taste which meant you got to taste those €100 bottles of wine without feeling guilty!! We officially became tourists today, we bought souveniers! A bottle of awesome grappa wine, pinocchio and a cool poster.

We walked to the town centre and had some well priced tasty food from one of the local restaurants. Richelle got to have her Osso Bucco (spelt Ossibucco) and then we had to head back to Florence to get the 6pm train to Rome.

Overall if I was going to Florence again, I'd stay outside of Florence in the Tuscan Hills and get the bus in for a day of sight seeing, it's just a really busy, congested city!
