Greetings everyone.  I am just sitting through our fourth, yes, and fourth day of rain in a row.  It is pretty unusual to have any rain at all right now, but after about six months of nothing, everyone is pretty happy.  I just wish the goats had not eaten my garden...

I just returned from a trip to Nouakchott to get my yearly physical and was given a clean bill of health. Yeah!  While I was there I also made it to the beach and managed to eat as much food as I could fit in my belly.

On my return trip, I made a stop my Kaedi, to do some reconnaissance regarding tie-dyeing supplies.  Our girls have pooled their money to make a bunch of mulafas and sell them in the market, but to have them tie-dyed by someone else is so expensive it is almost not worth doing.  So. We are going to try to raise some money to buy the supplies and bring a women here to teach the girls how to do it.  We are going to create a Peace Corps Partnership for the center where people can donate money directly to our center, and Jackie and I will use it to fund projects like this one.  Once we get the account set up, I will post a link and better explanation if any of you would like to donate a few bucks. In any event, Kaedi was great.  I saw a bunch of my buddies and made some good contacts, as well as ate mangos (which were delicious).

I am back in Awainatt Zbill now and am ready to get back to classes.  We also have a generator and about a hundred tree seeds coming in a few weeks which is REALLY exciting.  Now we will have the power to use all of our computers in the GMC and have some shade to sit under (after the trees grow...).

I hope all is well.  Check back in a week or so for another update.

Mike
