Everything is different; colors, smells, sounds. Surroundings are overly civilized and compartmentalized, isolated and sanitized. People behave and drive their cars through the snow in an orderly fashion. Everything is completely rational. Clean heated homes, living rooms, cable televsion, laptop computers, and comfortable beds. Processed food. Food without taste. The 'civilized' world. This is going to take some getting used to. For the time being, the comforts of home are a welcome change. However, as routine continues in its' endless occupation of every waking hour, I fear that I will once again yearn for the constant chaos and unpredictability of life on the road - the ceaseless adventure.
Kerouac said it best: "...the road is life."
