Originally we were only going to stay a couple of nights, but the car park is so well situated for shops, for sights and for security that we have decided to stay longer. The town is only 9 kms from the town of Bucamaranga, which is the capital of the region. Mike has been saying for a while that he needs new glasses and so we will stay until he gets them. This morning it was into the town so he could get an eye test, he now needs two different pairs, but these even with the transition lens are only going to cost about one hundred and sixty pounds and take three days to be ready.
21st - Into the historic centre to see the sights. This one is similar to the last, but here it is an area of only about 6 streets square that is old, as usual complete with the old Basilica. We have noticed that for the few days we have been here there are a mass of people around, it is still the same today; it appears as if the children are starting back at school and have to be accompanied by there parents. It seems very overpopulated for the size of it, which makes it difficult to get around. The narrow streets are paved with rounded stones, which makes it hard to walk on and the pavements are quite narrow, about 3ft wide, but more importantly very high above the road. In some places there is a 3 ft drop to the road with no step down.
22nd - Spent the day around the parking cleaning the vehicle and doing the washing.
23rd - Mike was of into Bucaramanga to get his glasses and a couple of other things. He got lost again, but not quite as bad as the first time. We managed to fill and empty our tanks in the afternoon in preparation for leaving tomorrow.
