- At long last we start to get ready to leave Panama. The first thing we have to do is to go to the Police inspection station. This is situated in Panama City so we set off fairly early and arrived about 11am, it took s while as it was quite difficult to find even though we have a map. As we found the map was wrong and eventually when we spotted it it was on the other side of at highway. Anyway once there Mike went into the office and started the system, this should consist of taking a pencil tracing of the VIN and Engine numbers as well as checking the computer for outstanding tickets or accidents. The one problem we had was that they could not find the numbers on the moped. In the end they took panels of and turned it upside down checking and finally did find them. After that he had to go over the road where they were going to issue the form, unfortunately at this point whilst still parked in the police car park I had the step down and a man decided to come into the vehicle and ask for money saying he was security and asking where Mike was. I knew he was not security but told him I would give him some coins if he left. On handing him some coins I then pushed him out the door at the same time, I then shut and locked the door and raised the steps, When Mike came back I told him and he went in and told the Police, It took a little while before they understood but then it was action and they ran into the building where the man had gone and started a search for him. Saying that we had to go over the road to finish the paperwork because this nice easy check had taken over 8 hours and they were just closing for the night. Once we got the paperwork we drove to the car park opposite the site of the Yacht Club for the night.
