No, this isn't an April Fools. We actually did escape to Birmingham for this long weekend. It actually worked out very well. We had a four-day weekend, and we wanted to visit Birmingham to see Kelsey's brother and scout out the city as a potential place to live once we're done with this job. Coincidentally, Kelsey's parents were also driving through and staying in Birmingham that same weekend as they were en route to Florida for spring break. But, as if five people crammed into a one-bedroom condo wasn't tight enough, Kelsey's brother's college roommate drove down from Tennessee to hang out with the fam, too. Yikes!

But we had a great time. It was super refreshing to get out of the cold, windy, barren Plains and into the warm, friendly South.

We went hiking through a local preserve, and the guys went above and beyond to do a little bouldering on some of the rock formations there.

We also attended Christ City Church, a relatively new church plant in which Kelsey and I feel drawn to serve. I'm glad we ended up liking it a lot, because we were banking on going there anyway!
So in just a short weekend, we found our future church, Sunday school, and even made a few friends. And we escaped the Plains for just long enough for them to not be so oppressive when we got back. Not too bad.

So I've attached some pictures. Enjoy :)

Mom on

You didn't take any pictures of your brother bouldering?!? I see Walter, but no brother! :) That was a great weekend! I am so glad you enjoyed it, too!
