We had a tough set-up today, but we had pleasant company to help us--two helpful students, and two very nice staff members.  One of the staff members, Sue, was the IT person at the school. She stuck around at the end of the show to help us tear-down. During that process, she recommended that we go visit the place where she works part-time--a cheese farm.
So, once we got everything packed up into the van, we took her advice and visited the farm a few miles down the road. We pulled up to the farm, walked in the main building, and we talked to the farmer there for quite some time. He gave us samples of cheese as he explained the cheese-making process and the history of the farm. The Finger Lakes region of New York is renowned for its wineries. Thus, a cheese farm can find itself quite profitable! After tasting probably seven types of cheddar, we picked our favorite, and bought a block. Excited about our local fresh product, we stopped at Sauder's, a local farmer's market where we bought more local items--a summer sausage, crackers, chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate milk--we made it our lunch! It was some of the best food we'd eaten in a while.

The Finger Lakes region of New York is beautiful--we hope to visit again sometime soon!
