The revisiting of last spring continued on our way out of Texas.

Our one school in the morning was great--we worked with helpful Texan young men, interacted with a pleasant principal--all around good school.

After school, we had an eight hour drive up to Enid, Oklahoma, where we would meet up and say with our friends the Wahlgrens. On our way out of Texas, however, we stopped for lunch. We decided to have one last Texas barbeque before we ended up in New York. We searched the GPS for one that sounded good, and it brought us to Abilene.

As soon as we pulled up into Square's Barbeque Pit and Grill, we realized that we had been there before. Not to eat, though. In January, we were starving one day and wanted to try our first Texas BBQ restaurant. We found Square's, but it didn't look good. The building was run down, there were no cars in the parking lot, and it looked generally unappetizing. We eventually settled on another one down the road that also looked run-down, but we were hungry enough and tired enough to settle. We were pleasantly surprised.

That was January.

Today, when we identified Square's, we were about to say "Oh gosh, it's that bad one--let's look for something else" when we realized that "Wait--we've learned since then. The best BBQ comes from the most humble places."
We pulled into the parking lot, and with our more experienced perspective, we decided it looked pretty good!

We went inside, ordered our food, and soon realized that we wished we hadn't passed it up last time. Great eats. The brisquet was smoky, and the sides were succulent. Great reviews of Square's BBQ Pit and Grill, and a fantastic conclusion to our time here in the Southwest.

The next three nights will be spent with Caleb and Becky Wahlgren. They toured last year with Camfel, and have now decided to take up residence in Enid, Oklahoma. They haven't found many friends in town yet, and we miss having friends on the road. It will be a nice mutual visit :)
