We have a 12-hour or so drive this weekend. After our second school in Newcomb on Friday, we knocked down 3 hours and stayed the night in Albuquerque--ironically, in the same hotel we stayed at last time we were in Albuquerque. This trip to the Southwest has been strangely similar to last semester's. What's more, we're headed to San Angelo, TX, where we have a reservation in the same Super 8 we stayed in last time we stayed in San Angelo [*added in hindsight from this weekend* Not only are we staying in the same hotel in San Angelo, we also found ourselves in the very same room. And on Sunday morning, we went to the same church as last time, and went to the same Denny's after that same church.]
But we had a nice morning in Albuquerque, on our way out of town. It started with trying to find a Quiznos for lunch--after we went a mile or two out of the way trying to get un-lost, we realized it probably didn't exist. Then we changed gears to find a Subway, and it led us to a little strip mall with a sign for Subway, but no visible Subway. However, as serendipity would have it, we stumbled across a Souper Salad that opened in ten minutes. Therefore, we spent not just the next ten minutes, but the next half hour in the nearby Figments Tea Shoppe and Gallery. The shop sported a number of tea-related gifts and boutique-type novelties, without the fancy boutique expense. It didn't take long for us to decide to do a bit of very early Christmas shopping. At this rate, we'll have gifts for everyone by mid-October!

So after our jaunt into the tea shoppe, we ate at Souper Salad. We've seen them before, but never tried one. In short, we loved it. They had a seemingly endless buffet of salad makings, and a good selection of soups. If those aren't enough, there are a number of other lunch items--lasagna, nachos, tacos... fantastic.

And that was our farewell to New Mexico. Pretty part of the country. Now we're on to our weekend in Texas, before our roadtrip up to the Northeast.
