For the shows in Monahans and Big Spring, we stayed in Midland.
Friday night, after our work was done here in west Texas, we treated ourselves to a drive-in movie!

We took the opportunity to see How to Train Your Dragon.

Before we left, however, we unloaded all of our equipment from the back of the van into our hotel room, so we could lounge in the back of the van. We packed blankets, pillows--everything we could find to make our cargo van a little more comfortable.

We got there early, so we had time to buy some food, have some dinner, and get ourselves situated before the movie started. When it did, however, we realized that the sound only plays from your car stereo. That's cool, I guess--apart from my concerns lately about a weak van battery, that's not a big deal. However.. what -was- a big deal was that our van's headlights are set to be on whenever the van is on. And the radio could not play unless the van is on. Thus, the radio could not play unless the headlights shone in people's faces. Not appropriate drive-in etiquette. So, about five or ten minutes into the movie, we decided to drive up into a space between two vehicles that were playing their radios loudly. The sound wasn't as loud or as quality as if we had our own, but we were at least able to feel like we got our money's worth.

It was a neat thing to do, and we loved the movie. So, if watching a drive-in movie in West Texas out of the back of our Dodge Astro cargo van was on our bucket list, we can scratch it off.
