Day 1 -- King William district, Steves Homestead

We still had a few days to get to El Paso, so we made the decision to visit San Antonio for three days, then make the rest of the trip out to El Paso on our last day.

This was our first time stepping foot in San Antonio, so we were determined to make a nice vacation out of it. Kelsey did a fantastic job in planning our little family vacation--we would experience San Antonio in three parts. And, coincidentally, we experienced the city from three different historical perspectives. Not chronologically...but.. you'll see. It's cool.

Our first day, we drove to the King William district--a neighborhood full of large Victorian-era homes. There are dozens of homes that are labeled as specifically acknowledged by the King William historical society. You can't tour them all, but you can walk around the neighborhood and read a little bit about each.

We did, however, tour one home--the Edward Steves Homestead. This home tour was not nearly as crowded as the Moody Mansion in Galveston. In fact, Kelsey and I were the only ones. So, the tour guide gave us a nice, informal tour of the house. Just like she was showing some friends around the house. We even got to see some rooms that she doesn't ordinarily show to groups.

It was nice! We couldn't take pictures of the home, but we did photograph houses in the neighborhood. They're attached--enjoy.
