Hey, just writing some entries a little out of chronological order--trying to catch up.

The middle of this week, we decided to take off to Galveston and hit the beach.

Unfortunately, a cold front had the same idea. Why is it that cold fronts seem to follow us on our mini-vacations?  New Orleans was unseasonable, and Galveston Island was even colder. But... can't complain. No snow, right?

We had a lovely time. in Galveston. For starters, we toured the Moody Mansion. We barely made the tour, actually. The attendance was one over the maximum, but a little persuasion and a sad face granted two more. Mike--you ask--why was the tour so full, if it was 3:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday in the off-season? Well, we didn't expect a retirement community bus tour to unload the same time we wanted to see the house.
But, thankfully, we were admitted. Kelsey was particularly excited about this house tour ever since reading the brochure. The Moody Mansion is the subject of many photographs of interior design and architecture, which Kelsey referenced in her design classes. She was excited to walk the actual halls and climb the actual stairs that were the inspiration for her models.

We couldn't take pictures inside, but we took some of the exterior. Enjoy.

We also hit the beach. We didn't stay long, and there wasn't much heat to bask in, but we enjoyed the novelty of it.

Galveston is now one of our new favorite Texas cities. We hope to be back.
