Well folks, it's the end of a long week in Ascension Parish, Louisiana.  If you're reading this now when there hasn't been another entry for a week, don't worry, I'm working back to them. It's been a fun week with plenty of stories to share. If you're reading this after a while, and it's just another entry for just another day, well then enjoy.

Today's schools were in St. Amant, Lousiana. We started with a middle school, where about 600 kids packed into a tiny auditorium. The show went well, and after the show, a team of middle schoolers performed for the rest of their classmates. Apparently, this school is competing in a national competition in several different events--posters, spelling bee, trivia quiz, math quiz, impromptu speaking---and select students perform in those categories. Furthermore, the competitors involved perform a song and dance routine, which is what was performed after the assembly. I forget what exactly it was, but it started with a little Tyler Perry's "Madea" sketch, and transitioned into the entire group singing a song called "Make it Through Together" or something like that?
It featured some gymnastics, dance solos, voice solos, flag twirling... pretty entertaining! So it was fun. Sorry we couldn't get any pictures.

This afternoon, we went over to St. Amant High School where we set up in the "Gold Dome". This school's gymnasium is actually a gold-colored dome! Very cool. It was one of the neatest spaces in which we've set up.
The dome wasn't the only cool space this school had. Their art club transformed an abandoned brick alleyway between two buildings into "The Secret Garden." It resembled somewhat of a French bistro, with wrought-iron tables and chairs, plants in planters and pots lining a cobblestone walkway. How much money does this school have, that they can have a gold dome and can fund an art club's garden renovation?

Well, anyway, that concludes a solid week's stretch in Louisiana. It's been a long week--10 shows, 10 set-ups, 3 days of overtime. And Louisiana continues for half the week next week, too.
But! We're looking forward to a refreshing weekend! We're taking the weekend to visit New Orleans! Furthermore, Kelsey's brother is driving down from Alabama to stay with us. We're staying in Olde Town Inn, right in the French Quarter of New Orleans. We'll take some pictures so you can see, but trust me for now--this is one of the coolest little Inns you could visit. It's a string of tiny apartments strung along a gated courtyard, with authentic old-town New Orleans decor. It's almost European--Bohemian, kind of. Very rustic and... hm.. hard to describe.

But anyway, we are all doing well! Healthy, happy, and in New Orleans.

I'll catch up on travelpodding--until then, God bless--talk to you later
