Show trip route
We stayed in Hampton Inn for two nights, which is SOOO nice. It's Michael's favorite hotel chain from his forensics traveling days. And I see why.
On the day of my birthday, we were not scheduled for a show until 12:15! Which meant we didn't have to be there until 10:30 -leaving the hotel at 10:15. This all equals sleeping in! When I woke up, about 8:30, I went to reach for my glasses on the night stand and there was paper folded around my glasses. When I donned my spectacle so I could see, I saw it was a letter, written in my husband's hand. It was a birthday poem inspired by the lyrics to our song "wonderful journey" and embelished with his thoughts about us and his thankfulness to the Lord for our marriage.
My next birthday treat was a back, foot and hand hot oil massage. Yes, ladies, be jealous. Yes, men, you may need to step it up if your wife reads that. AAAAhhhhhh.
Here is why Hampton Inn is so great: Big Breakfast Buffet. Oh the deliciousness that this allitterative phrase entails. You had three walls full of breakfast. Starting with the hot drinks then curving around to the waffles, bagels, muffins and toast. This brings you to the hot dish of the morning, which on my birthday had sausage patties and eggs - which when coupled witha warm fluffy buiscut makes my favorite kind of breakfast: Breffix Sandwich. Smother that with maple syrup and I needed go no further. However, if nothing had yet struck your fancy you may continue down the bar. There you find fresh fruit, yogurts, and a wide variety of individually boxed cereal. Say you're in a hurry and cannot stop at the bar - Hampton Inn has to-go breakfast bags with a bottled water, muffin, apple, Special K cereal bar and mints. You're hungry for breffix now, aren't ya?
After my Birthday Breakfast Bar Bonanza, we had to pack and get to work. When we stepped outside the Hampton, it was sunny and warm. December 3rd and we were warm in t-shirts.
We drove to the school with no hassle. However, in the car I had another suprise waiting. I opened our milage book and inside waiting for me was a picture Michael drew. I love it when he draws me pictures. He had drawn our favorite picture that was in the breakfast room at Hampton! :)
The staff at the school was helpful and friendly. The auditorium was easily accessable. The stage was huge and the accoustics perfect - just making for a happy set-up. During the set-up, I opened the box of projectors (which is always my job at shows) and inside was another envelope. This time it was a birthday love letter. He just wanted to put in writing how much he adores me. So, with such an easy set-up, we finished with an hour to spare. The school provided us lunch on them! Yay for school chocolate milk!
During Michael's introduction to the show, he told the 600 middle-schoolers that it was my birthday. I got probably the biggest "Happy Birthday" I'll ever receive. It made me smile.
The tear down was easy, no second school, and we drove to our next hotel - Holiday Inn.
The evening was relaxed. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant. They had given us a coupon for free appetizer. And the special was $3.50 hambugers with $.25 toppings. So we ate for about $10, played a game of pool and headed for bed.
The birthday celebration continued Friday night. Mom Domeny had given me an Olive Garden gift card, so we found the nearest one. We dressed up for an evening out and splurged at dinner. We had the gift card plus a lot of extra budgeted money for food. We took our leftovers and dessert home and watched the series finale of Monk.
Speaking of thoese leftovers, I think I'll go heat up some steak and grilled veggies, and have me some lunch.
