Remember that pastor we met at the gas station on Friday night?  Well, we showed up to his church on Sunday. It is held in an event room at a local hotel. When we arrived, there were a handful of people milling around--who, come to find out, were members of his own family. Pastor Buie (pronounced BOO-ee) introduced us to his wife and children, and that was the total attendance. Several minutes later, another guy showed up--another first-time visitor.

That was it. Just us and three other adults. And the pastor's kids. Now apparently, there are more people who usually attend, but not today.

The service was like a little Omega service (from our time in Ohio). The music was played from a CD player, and Pastor Buie did some good ol' fashioned black preachin'.

Afterward, he invited us to dinner at his place. We went back to our hotel for the first part of the afternoon (Country Inn and Suites--great stay), and then showed up later for dinner. Pastor Buie fortified himself in the basement with his--what--62" television to watch Sunday football. We joined him for a little while, then it was time for dinner. We had a wonderful meal--beef, chicken, sweet potato, grilled vegetables, and biscuits. We watched a movie on TV, but didn't stay late.

Kinda cool. Again, it's always refreshing to hang out at a house. Surprisingly, this was the first time we've been invited to a home after church. Sure, it was a small church--but perhaps that explains the hospitality.

We've had a wonderful weekend--met a few friendly strangers, enjoyed some beautiful weather, and relaxed in preparation for a new week of work.
