Well, some stressful driving and wrong turns, along with a parkinglot-less train inner city train station left us just resorting to ending up at our hotel. I was stressed, Kelsey was disappointed, and I needed to make it up to her. Although a night out in New York City wasn't plausible at this point at this time, a night out at The Melting Pot was!
I wrote a poem introducing the date, which I reserved and assembled while she was on the phone with her friend. Soon enough, we were on our way!
We'd been to Melting Pot before--in Chicago early in our tour. We had just gotten dessert then, so we added dinner to tonight's menu. We started with a cheese fondue. We were given breads, vegetables, and apples to dip. Then, to fill up a little more before dessert, we each had a salad. Then--the course we've all been waiting for--chocolate fondue. We chose "yin-yang" chocolate fondue--white and dark chocolate artfully swirled. To dip, we had strawberries, bananas, brownies, pound cake, cheesecake, marshmallows, and rice krispie squares. Fantastic. Highly recommended.
And it was a wonderful evening! I had planned to go to the batting cages after dinner, but we decided it would be best to avoid the cold and the late bedtime, so we just called it a night.
I'm sure we'll have more time to spend in New York. This time, we didn't get much more than a trafficky drive to get back on the highway. But we made some memories regardless--however chocolatey :)
