Where I stayed
Mike and Cathy Whitesell's House
We left the Whitesell's home early in the morning to arrive in Selma in time to set up for a 9:45 show.
When we arrived, we had four great guys help us set up. The space required a gymnasium set-up, which means the screens must be erected taller than other set-ups. It tends to be a little more difficult and unsturdy. Nevertheless, the guys and I were able to set up the screens without a hitch, and Kelsey set up the audio/video in practically no time.
Just when we were finished with our set-up, Kelsey's mom came into the gymnasium. She had driven two and a half hours that morning to come see our show. It was really neat to have a friendly familiar face there to experience what we do.
The show ran smoothly, and the kids loved it. One girl came up to Kelsey at the end of the show and said, "I've seen your videos other years, but this one really clicked with me." She went on to tell her story of being taken from her parents at a younger age, and not being able to have seen them since. "I didn't think that was fair."
She and Kelsey hugged, and we left encouraged that the video is making an impact. What a job.
