Chiang Mai was like a big reunion.  Our British friend from TEFL, Charlie, had recently moved there to teach.  The night before Mike and John arrived the two of us went out on the town and partied until about four in the morning.  The next morning we took my motorbike to the park and read books while listening to an extremely drunk group of Thais sing off-tune.
Mike and John arrived that night and the four of us went to The What to watch Charlie's Muay Thai fight.

The next day Jill, yet another TEFL survivor arrived in Chiang Mai and the two of us took a jewelry course while the boys went up to Wat Phra Tha Doi Suthep. That night the five of us went to Huen Phen for an amazing northern-style Thai dinner and then had a few drinks before retiring to bed.  We all knew that the next day would be crazy!

In the morning Jill, Mike, John and I met Charlie and his friend Jan at the Blue Diamond for breakfast.  Hands-down, this place has the best vegetarian food in Chiang Mai.  After filling our stomaches we headed to the waterfall on Doi Suthep mountain.  It was so nice to relax in the sun...

So far the five of us had been acting pretty mellow....but that all changed Saturday night.

Before heading out we went to Utopia, which has an amazing all-you-can-eat steak buffet.  I would definitely suggest it to anyone craving western food!  After stuffing ourselves we went to The What for a few drinks before heading to the Reggae bars.  Then we grabbed a shot at the party bus before heading to a club near the Chiang Mai University.  Mike, John, Jill and I all squeezed into a tuk-tuk while Charlie and Jan followed on her bike.  I was expecting another backpackers hangout, but instead it was a proper dance club.  We squeezed our way into the crowd and danced until the club closed down.  Then we went to SPICY, the notorious after-hours club.  The dancing had caught-up with us at that point, and we all decided to call it a night.  I had such a great time...

The next morning we all met for breakfast.  Jill was going back to Kanchantaburi in the afternoon, Charlie was starting his new job the next day, and Mike John and I had decided to take a road-trip through Northern Thailand.  It almost felt like the end of TEFL, with all of us going our separate ways, but this time we knew how special our friendships had become.  I can't wait to see them again!
