Hi everyone,

So we left Bangkok Friday evening after the craziest of taxi rides yet. The driver was singing along in Thai but to the wrong words and the shooting bad drivers with is imaginary (finger) gun! We got to the sleeper train which was no trouble to find and once onboard settled down ordering food and drink for the journey until we had a funny moment watching a guy by the side of the tracks pointing what looked like a real gun (probably not) at himself. Ems thought he was crying to top it all off....! A guard came round about 8pm and made up beds which pulled down from the ceiling and by 9pm the whole carriage was tucked up in bed. Great experience.

Arrived in Chiang mai, met our hostel taxi, were made to stand still in car park respecting the national anthem, checked in and had a nap for 2hours to recharge from the bumps of the train. We then decided a nice stroll around Chiang mai, which is lovely would be the best thing. We stumbled across a night market, fantastic and huge... ate a number of different Thai specials including some amazing prawns. Unfortunatly the monsoon struck again so raced back to the hotel sheltering along the way.

Today was a great day. Elephant orphanage first thing, where we fed them and watched them paint some amazing pictures and played football, yes thats paint pictures. They gaves us hugs with their trunks and put hats on our heads. Then our driver, (5pounds for the day) took us to the Tiger Kingdom, where we both had an awesome experience and Ems cuddled a 4month old cub. It Was amazing and Ems was in heaven-like cuddling a baby!!!!!!!! We also got to stroke the Big tigers, exciting but also a little scary knowing how powerful they are!

After that we randomly drove up the mountainside to about 1500m and walked to a hilltop temple to see some amazing views of Chiang Mai. Tomorrow we start our Jungle trek and tribe visit!!

Lovely to read the messages from you all,

Lots of Love

Wow ! It sounds as if this is becoming the trip you wanted. I can just imagine you with that baby tiger Emily. Elephant orphanage too. Just enjoy every experience. The night in the jungle may be a bit of a challenge but just embrace the wild life experience and spray yourself well !
can't wait for next episode.
