Hey everyone!

We thought we would update you all on our last few days in Bangkok, as we travel to Chiang Mai on the sleeper train tonight!
Well...it has been interesting!! On Thursday we decided to have a lazy day, so walked to  local park. On the way we met our first lady boy, serving us in Starbucks of all places!!!! As soon as we arrived we saw terrapins, giant catfish, sleeping tortoises and huggeeeee lizards- definitely not crocodiles, but Monitor lizards! The park was amazing, so quiet in the centre of Bangkok. We had a few hours walking around there, then walked on down to a department store, seeing a giant temple on the way with beautiful music and dancing by Thai women. We saw a Lamborghini garage in the shopping centre (Mike was in heaven!!) and lots of posh shops- Louis V etc (Ems wished she was rich!) We then had a lovely lunch and caught the skyrail back to the hostel as the rain started. Didn't sleep too well Thursday night, first night in the dorm and jet lag still here!
So after about 2 hours sleep we got up for a day trip to the River Kwai. Hilarious trip-not worth the money we paid but funny all the same! After swapping mini busses what seemed about 100 times we then travelled for 2 hours to the river. The bridge was awesome, no health and safety though, you could have fallen through at any point! Ems got photographed like a celebrity by Thai tourists- about 6 of them wanted a photo with her-crazy locals!! Popped into a museum about the railway, interesting statues with huge willies!! They seem to be obssessed with the penis here!! Took a really bumpy train ride on the death railway, Ems actually flew from her seat and thought she was going to die! Had a lush lunch on the river in a floating restaurant, then went to a waterfall. It wasn't exactly special...just a bit of trickling water! But it rained, we got on and off two more mini busses, turned around a few times then headed back to Bangkok-in rush hour! Very funny day, actually enjoyed it despite the mishaps!! Met some lovely Canadians who we went out for dinner with, then both had a lovely nights sleep-finally!!
We are now ready for our sleeper train tonight that could be eventful!! But we are sooo excited to get out of crazy Bangkok and see the real Thailand!! Will update when we can.
Missing you all lots. Lots of love Mike and Ems xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
