Where I stayed

We travelled in convoy with Rosemary and Pat as far as Geraldton and after coffee and Muffins at the Shell roadhouse, we went our separate ways. Dongara was about 60 kms away and we arrived at the Port Denison Caravan Park just on midday. Lunch consisted of an Avocado sandwich and whilst Mike had a rest and went fishing, I walked into the town along the boardwalk. Mike managed to catch one fish from the shore but had plenty of bites. That night I had a bit of a dizzy spell and didn't feel too well at all but by morning was feeling much better so Mike and I went for a walk along the sea front to check out the surroundings.

We then went back to the caravan for tea and had a chat with our new neighbours, who are  farmers from Mukinbuddin, before taking a drive into town via the Ocean Road. The town was not too busy and we looked around a couple of shops but found nothing to tempt us. We ended up at the fish and chip shop where we bought lunch and headed for the beach where we sat and watched the waves as we ate.   We returned to the caravan park and went to the gathering of campers at the camp kitchen for nibbles and drinks. The rest of the evening was quiet and we watched some Para Olympic events on the TV.

The next day on Thursday 11 September was time to pack up for the last time and head for Perth and home. Only 345 kms to go and soon we were passing farm land with green crops and paddocks with cows grazing on the lush green grass. Smoke bushes lined the road interspersed with yellow bushes and snow white bushes whose flowers reminded us of poodle tails. The scenery was really pretty but it wasn’t long before we ran into rain which stayed with us on and off for the rest of the journey home. A quick stop at Cataby for the toilet and a snack and then non stop until we had to refuel in the Swan Valley.

The end of a very nice nine and a half weeks adventure came only too soon with some amazing places seen and good friends made.  We are now looking forward our next caravan trip when once again we expect that our blood pressure will return to normal with this relaxing lifestyle.
