It was cloudy as we left Dongara just before 8am and we made our way down the Brand Highway to travel the 345 kms to our home. The countryside is still green from the winter rains with thick bushes lining the roadway. Passing over higher ground we looked down into a valley of forests, farmland, crops of varying sorts and the odd herd of cattle munching on the lush grass. The bush is still alive with winter flowers, smoke bush, yellow wattle and some flowers whose name escapes us but look like snow white poodle tails. The Black Boys are blooming and the hilly countryside is still covered in mauve, yellow and white flowers.

Around 9.30am it began to rain and we pulled into the roadhouse at Cataby for a snack and drink. The crumbed chicken legs went down a treat and we washed it down with a diet coke to counteract the fatty chicken - just hope it works!!  Before long we pulled into a service station in the Swan Valley, filled up with fuel and drove the last 30 kms home.

It has turned out to be a wonderful trip, we have seen places like no other and have decided that the Grey Nomad lifestyle is just fine for us.  What our next adventure will be hasn't been decided yet but we hope to visit the Eastern seaboard of Australia in the future.

Holidays are fine but there's no place like home.  We missed our little family but now we are all back together until we get itchy feet once more
