Feel like dog stew for diner ?
Ever dreamt to spot leeches in their natural environment ?
Phonsgali is FOR YOU ! A hell of a bus ride to get there (2 days from Luang Prabang), a heck of a boat trip to steer clear from it (3 days down river), it does not get much more remote than that !
Thanks to this exceptionally sheltered context, the brave Western trekker will be to spot some of the most stunningly dressed tribes in the world, proud communities resisting the short/tee-shirt Asian uniform ( for how much longer ?).
Hurry !
Men have practically all shedded their traditional attire ( but for Festivals ) and satellite dishes fourish at the crest of the most isolated mountain villages.
But, remember to be polite and ask first before pointing your lense at a dignified local beauty.
So, did we, and , as a result, some of the most beautiful apparitions that crossed our (muddy) path will be confined to our memory only ... sorry !
