Los Angeles is a very beautiful place. It is The place for having a relaxed and laid back life. In some ways it reminded me of Cyprus. I know it sounds funny but there are a couple of striking similarities. The weather is just like Cyprus, very hot most of the time of the year. It was early November and you could walk around with t-shirt. It has nice beaches, just like cyprus, although the sea is not as nice as Cyprus as it is an ocean (but is good for surfing). Everyone uses cars, just like Cyprus. Only some immigrants use public transport and I! It would take me 2,5 hours to go to one place and another 2,5 to go back home! The public transport is relatively good, with its buses and a quite big subway. But because LA is sooo strecthed out, it is not as compact as other big cities, it is difficult to get around if you do not have a car. But even with a car it will take a lot of time to go to some places. Lastly (on the similarities with Cyprus) there are not skyscrapers, except for a twenty or so in the centre `Downtown". Plus the relaxed laid back life (at least it was more or less like that when I left Cyprus, I do not know though now with Troika and the economic situation that unfolds). All these in combination do give you a feel of similarity with Cyprus.

Again, in LA you can find all kind of towns, Korea town, China town, Japan town and the Mexicans are everywhere! What I was not aware was that there is such a big Armenian community in LA, a lot of which resides in Glendale (where I was staying).

Despite not having the feel of a big metropolis like NYC, LA still has plenty of things to do and go to see. And I am not talking about taking the "Celebrities houses” tours which take you to see the houses of celebrities and you just end up seen the garbage bin of Leonardo Di Caprio because of course his house is surrounded by a tall wall!

There are beautiful beaches, nice restaurants with nice food, well worth visiting museums, the movie production parks (all of them are situated together in LA) and of course hollywood.

I really had a great time in LA and despite the fact that this had to do with seeing again after a long time a very good friend of mine and being hosted by his family, LA is a very nice and friendly city.

It is a city where you can live permanently.

Of course the highlight for me was getting to see my good friend Rafi after so many many years! Thank you for showing me such a great time in LA. I am also very grateful to the Balian family who took me in their home for 2 weeks and treated me like one of their own! I can not thank you enough!
