Awoke at 5:30 for sunrise game drive. It was beyond breath taking-really hard to put into words. Back to lodge for breakfast. Food here is nothing to write home about-the kids are living on carbs. Rested by the pool and then relaxed, napped etc. Met Jeff again at 5PM for sunset game run. Lions at sunset-even more wonderful than sunrise. Again met family from Andorra which is a small country between France and Spain. Mom (Lisa), Dad (Fernando) 13 y/o (Daisy) and 11 y/o Elena. They are also going to Serengetti tomorrow.
Girls continue to be soaking it all in. I keep expecting Julia to fall over with fatique but she is fine and keeping up with Nikki (which is not an easy thing to do!)
It's all so foreign and beautiful. The people are SO nice and helpful. I keep thinking of the Masai people living right outside my door in mud huts. I would be miserable but they are genuinely happy. They have such a strong sense of community. They are aware of the numerous tribal people in Kenya who gave up their way of life and joined the modern age. But they also know that most of those people are very unhappy and unfulfilled. It's their choice to keep their ancestral lifestyle, and their hope that their children do the same.
