We didn't do too much in Helsinki - Michael ate Rudolph, much to Kate's disgust, before our visit to the historic island fort of Soumenlinna, and we also visited the old town of Porvoo where we ate lots of the free testers at the chocolate factory!
Our travel journal has also been 'discovered' by an Indian travel site - http://www.sulekha.com/travel/travelarticledesc.asp?cid=307841
Fame at last!
We arrived in Helsinki after a pleasant cruise across the Baltic Sea and checked into our hostel in the former 1952 Olympic Stadium (soon to host the 2005 World Athletic Championships). Helsinki is a superclean and functioning city. After travelling through Asia and India for so long we found the helpful tourist information offices, the great and clean public transport and the friendly, relaxed people a welcome change. Unfortunately this all comes at a cost - Helsinki is by far the most expensive city we have visited - 1 Euro ($1.50+) just to use the dunny!!
